> ## Agent Instructions
> Perceptlayer is a web data API: one key for structured JSON from about 250 websites. Base URL https://api.perceptlayer.com.
> Send the key in the X-API-Key header. GET parameters go in the query string; POST parameters in a JSON body.
> A successful call costs the credits on its endpoint (X-Credits-Used); failed calls cost nothing. Errors are {"error": {"code", "message", "request_id"}}.
> AI agents can use every endpoint through the MCP server at https://api.perceptlayer.com/mcp (tools search_endpoints, get_endpoint, call_endpoint), with Authorization: Bearer <key>.

# Rate limits

> Requests a minute per account, and what happens over the limit.

Limits apply per account, shared by all its keys, and are counted in fixed one-minute windows.

| Account | Requests a second | Requests a minute |
| - | - | - |
| Free | 1 | 60 |
| Paying, at least | 5 | 300 |
| Paying, fastest pack rate | 300 | 18,000 |

Paying accounts run at the rate of the credits they are using. Credits bought at a faster rate are used first; when they run out, the account returns to the rate of its other credits. You choose a rate when you buy a pack. See [pricing](https://perceptlayer.com/pricing).

## Headers

Every authenticated response, errors included, carries the account's current position:

| Header | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `RateLimit-Limit` | Requests a minute for the account |
| `RateLimit-Remaining` | Requests left in the current minute |
| `RateLimit-Reset` | Seconds until the current minute resets |
| `RateLimit-Policy` | `<requests a minute>;w=60` |

## Over the limit

Over the limit you get `429 rate_limited` with a `Retry-After` header in seconds, the same value as `RateLimit-Reset`. It's never billed. Wait that long and retry, or spread calls out using `RateLimit-Remaining`.
